10 Gift ideas to give a new mom

After being in the hospital to give birth 3 times, I am compiling a list of gift ideas I would’ve loved as a new mom just having left the hospital. But before we jump into it, I want to say that my favorite gifts were practical and truthfully gifts for me. Anything that would make me feel better, or make the postpartum feel a lot less blehhh. Your baby got its own whole ass party, now anything gifted during this time I love to focus on the mamas! Ok let’s get into it.

Owala or a new tumbler cup

An Owala is great for moms that have toddlers so that they can’t spill or open it on their own, and it’s a sip-and-chug cup all in one! Plus there are SOO many color options so there’s something for everyone.

Sweatsuit

Something to note, your friend or family member most likely isn’t ready to pop on a bathing suit and start flaunting it all just weeks postpartum. So a cute matching sweatsuit is the move. When choosing clothes for a new mom, I would choose something loose and not clinging to the body. This way she can feel put together without feeling insecure!

Summer Set

If the new mama had a baby in the warmer weather months, this might be a good alternative to the sweatsuit. A t-shirt and shorts combo.

Slippers for around the house

Slippers are a great idea just to make her feel more cozy or put together in her home.

Dry shampoo

For the long days’ dry shampoo will just help make that messy bun going on day 3 look a lot more “on purpose”.

Lip gloss or Chapstick

A little something to fill the bag for her without being a major gift- this lipgloss is great and not sticky on the lips! Or an alternative like chapstick is a great option.

Food

Having to feed a baby every 2 hours, has meals feeling daunting. So giftcards for meals, bring a meal, meal trains, doordash, etc. all of those are great options for a new mom.

Offer to run an errand for them

Most of the time when someone said let me know if you need anything before i come, it was too short of notice for me to think of something. BUT if you offered to stock their necessities for them that kind of gift helps out a ton.

Actual practical gifts aka. formula, diapers, wipes,etc.

I know it’s so much more fun to get “cute” gifts but the ones that would actually get used are the ones that no one thinks to bring! So want to really make their day? Stock them up with some items so they can save a trip to the store to get more items. Seriously, If someone would’ve brought me a can of formula instead of more baby clothes I would’ve been so darn excited.
